GREEN UPGRADE SCHOOL PROGRAM
Series: KazNARU MBA Future Entrepreneurs Forum
On April 8, 2022, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) held presentations on the “Green Upgrade school program” and the concept note of the project “Green campus”. The seminar “Education for sustainable development: green technologies, Green Upgrade school program, and the Green Campus” was held within the series “MBA KazNARU forum of future entrepreneurs”, dedicated to entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Students of economic and other specialties attended the seminar.
The most important step for understanding the importance and future impact of greening and sustainability eco-projects is to start their implementation. Unfortunately, many people discuss eco-projects, everyone is talking about ecology and green technologies, but few know where to start and how to implement them.
During this presentation, undergraduate and graduate students had the opportunity to participate in the discussion, ask questions and meet the best experts in this field.
Two of the main trends in modern eco-business are to catch the wave and major trends; everything is changing very fast now. Therefore, it is necessary to have time and knowledge to be on the top.
Entrepreneurs must be able to adapt quickly to new circumstances and react to them firmly.
Alina Dosanova, an employee of the famous eco-consulting company Eco-Network, was invited to present an interesting and innovative project.
She is the CEO of the Green Upgrade school program and a representative of the international company Eco Logiq and has many years of experience in ESD issues. She raised several questions:
1) Don’t know how to start an eco-project?
2) How to generate ideas and find the right solution?
3) What is the Green Upgrade school program and about Eco-Network?
Alina shared the main activities of eco-movement, and volunteering and showed by her own example that it is quite feasible. She pointed out three important directions:
Firstly, eco-movement is a worldwide trend, which not only affects economic development in different countries but also directly affects job creation in the labor market and stimulates important technological and social innovations.
Secondly, eco-movement and attention to the goals of sustainable development is a completely new direction (trend) for Kazakhstan, which will influence the formation of economic and social policy and the quality of life for at least the next 10-15 years.
Thirdly, focusing on the goals of sustainable development is very important for students, both in terms of gaining new knowledge and competencies, and in terms of volunteering, because everything starts with us, our future is behind the younger generation.
The coordinator of the MBA/EMBA program – Rafis Abazov (executive director of the International Institute for Green and Sustainable Development and a visiting professor of KazNARU) prepared a presentation on the Green Campus concept.
He believes that students can make an important contribution to sustainable development and the implementation of the SDGs through green technological and social innovations and through the implementation of the Green Campus program. For example, the Green Campus concept – is part of the international Green Campus movement and network – and can be both an action program for students and a program to develop international partnerships and attract new technology and knowledge. He emphasized that volunteering is a broad concept, but it is more about sharing your experience, time, and skills with someone or investing it all in a good cause.
The speaker stressed that it is planned to hold a series of lectures, meetings, and training on the topic of SDGs for students. He noted the importance of participation in various national and international contests and eco-startups.
It is worth noting that a pilot version of the MBA/EMBA webpage has already been launched: https://www.kaznaru.edu.kz/page/MBA
